Sudden Bleed

I've been on Oestrogel (4 pumps) & Utrogestan (every day, no breaks) for 8 months which has got rid of my hot sweats, and I added Tostran 2 months ago to reduce brain fog and lack of libido. I just noticed it's taking effect in the last week, but a few days later I started having very painful boobs and yesterday i began spotting. It's now more like a period. I can't remember missing a dose. Would a missed dose even cause this? Is it possible the Testosterone is converting to oestrogen and its the high dose of oestrogen causing the bleed? Could I reduce to 3 pumps of Oestrogel to stop the bleeding? Anyone else had this and did it stop? I feel like I've messed things up by adding Tostran but now I finally get my libido back I'm bleeding all over the place!!!

Sorry you have had no replies.

Bleeding like this usually happens if women are given continuous HRT too soon.
You need to be at least 12 months post-menopause to be able to use it otherwise your own periods might break through.

OR as you are using 4 pumps of gel ( the highest licensed dose) you may need to use 200mcg Utrogestan daily (this is a new directive from the BMS.) 100mcgs is often insufficient to control the lining when you on 4 pumps a day.

How old are you and how long had your periods stopped when you started HRT?

You need to see your GP and ideally have a scan to check the lining. In the meantime you could try 200 mcgs Utrogestan for a week or two.

@JinglingXmasbells Thank you so much! My periods had been dwindling since 5 years ago. I had my last one just over 2 years ago. Ive been researching and i think the Tostran is converting into additional oestrogen, causing the increase which the Utrogestan cant cope with, as you say. So I've reduced to 3 pumps of Oestrogel since yesterday and have a phone appointment with my GP on 9th Jan. I was planning to ask for blood tests to check levels perhaps? And in the meantime, do you think I should take an additional 100mg Utrogestan every other day and see if that balances things out better?

I started bleeding after 8 months. I was told to up my dose of Utrogestan to 200mg every day to control the bleeding.

@Movinghouseatlast Thank you! Are you on oestrogen gel? If so, how many pumps? How long have you been taking 200 mg of progesterone and is it controlling your bleeding? sorry for all the questions 😁
