Anyone had this- is this normal? ( Fwiw I've been regular as clockwork 4 weeks then period 5 days ) since I was about 14 ( now early 50's). Advice welcome!

Yes it's normal.

See your GP.

A Mirena coil is the usual treatment, or using Tranexamic acid to reduce the bleed, or HRT to create a more predictable monthly withdrawal bleed.

Get them to check your iron too to rule out anaemia.

Thanks. Am on HRT. Been on it for 2 years now. Don't fancy the coil. Have had to cance my smear TWICE now

I didn't appreciate you were on HRT. That gives you a withdrawal bleed, not a natural period.

You need to see your GP and discuss this, as you shouldn't get that amount of blood loss. Your HRT probably needs a tweak.

Are you using a sequential regime or combined continuous?

Thanks for replying. It's a continuous ( elleste duo 2mg)

Totally normal for me (and I’m also on the HRT patch).

I can have 9 days between periods or 49 days. They can last 3 days or 2 weeks. It’s been like this for 6 years so far.

You should see your GP.
Bleeding after 6 months on continuous combined is always investigated.
Ignore the lists of products, but read the advice on the link below, when combined is used, and when investigations are required for odd bleeding.

Thanks for the information. Think I'll see if I can get an appointment as I've got cramping today too.
