Applying Utrogestan vaginally

Hi

i was prescribed Utrogestan recently and my gp said to try taking it orally initially but if that caused problems (she mentioned bloating) then it could be taken vaginally. I’ve had really painful bloating (like nothing I’ve experienced before) for the last couple of days so I thought I’d try switching to vaginally to see if that helps.

Does anyone else take Utrogestan this way and how do you find it? Is it better / worse?

I took it orally at first, then switched to half the dose vaginally. 14 days out of 28.
It helped with the bloating, but I still have the rage and terrible periods!

I had the most horrendous bloating taking it orally. Switched to vaginally and have no problems. Dead easy, just stick them up when you’re in bed and let them melt and do their thing. Bit sticky in the morning but nothing too terrible.

Good luck!

Thank you I will try vaginally- I no longer have periods so take it continuously.

I know this is replying to a very old post but I’m wondering how you got on with a continuous regime vaginally? I’m 50 but 3 years post menopause, my coil has expired so I have been prescribed Utrogestan 100mg a day orally. I’m sure it’s bringing out my depression as I just feel switched off and I’m getting migraines which I just can’t tolerate. So I am investigating using the 100mg vaginally continuously. I’ve been reading lots of info but I’m just confused! I absolutely don’t think I want to use them for just some of the month as I had stage IV endometriosis and any bleeding was horrendous so I’m just wondering if it worked for you? 🙂
