Sorry I’m a complete HRT newbie! Saw my gp today and she has prescribed me Oestrogel and Utrogesten - does this sound like a good option? Also realistically how long did it take for people to notice any results?

I noticed a difference literally within a couple of days, in that my joints hurt less. I've been on it six months now and feel great. I don't have periods any more so I'm on continuous combined Oestrogel and Utrogestan.

Hi yes that’s so great you had a positive effect so quickly- I’ll keep my fingers crossed that I do. I don’t have periods either so have been prescribed it in a continuous basis.

Can I ask, I have the same HRT prescribed, waiting to take it as need to take the tablet on day 15 of cycle but my period hasn’t arrived!! So when I’m earth do I take the tablet? How do I work out my cycle if there isn’t one? HELP

Namaste6 · 22/05/2023 02:22

It's an excellent option OP (transdermal / body identical etc). You should start to feel the benefits in a couple of weeks, maybe sooner.

Namaste6 · 22/05/2023 02:27

@Kaffrin63 I just started the daily gel pumps regardless of a present or non present cycle. Just start - counting that day as Day 1. Then on day 15 of your 'new cycle' start the Utrogestan. You have then created a new 28 day cycle whether you bleed or not. Hope that makes sense. I have insomnia and it's the middle of the night.

Kaffrin63 · 22/05/2023 06:50

@Namaste6 thank you so much. Will go for it!!

Do you apply the gel at night too? I've switched from evorel conti patches to this combination continuously. I've been putting the gel on in the morning and taking the tablet at night. Just wondering if both at night are a better option.
