Why no bleeds on Evorel Sequi?

Bit confused because I have been taking ES for just over two years and was experiencing the cyclical bleeds, as you are meant to. But I haven't had any bleeding for two months, more I think.

I have changed where I place the patch as I thought it stuck better (stomach just above pelvis) than my thigh where I had always placed it. This change has coincided with that. Obviously all I can do is try to change back and see if that helps, but it may take a few weeks. Has anyone else ever experienced this? I don't think it is an absorption problem as my flushes etc are well under control - more so actually! It's just weird.

Not exactly the same, but I started Evorel Sequi in May, had a few months of fairly nice regular periods, and then was two weeks late. Cycle after that one, period started on day 20 and is horribly heavy

I am not much help at all, but similarly confused!

Only 85% off petite on sequi get a withdrawal bleed apparently. I discounted toss when I got to say 13 of the second stage patches and had no bleed so had googled it. Then I cursed myself and it started a few hours later .

I get occasional bleeds. Dr put me on that one because I still had occasional periods and what I thought she said was the womb lining would keep thickening otherwise and not be released (or whatever the word should be). I assumed I would only get a bleed therefore on the months when I was still actually ovulating and if I’m not ovulating much then I mostly won’t get a bleed. Is that wrong?

The truth is I don't know, I am totally confused by ES. I just seem to have random 'periods' which don't really sync with the hormones in the product. I had assumed I would have a bleed after the two weeks on the combined patch as it contains progesterone, but it's not like that at all. I have just had a bleed since posting my original message so am reassured that at least something has been released, I don't like to think of taking a medication containing estrogen with no bleeding at all.

Has definitely got more erratic in the past year. Am trying not to kneejerk-blame the Vaccine, but I had three jabs in a year and it seems to have effed with a lot of women's cycles.

My ‘cycle’ is all over the place on ES. Sometimes I get no bleed and others I may have 2 ‘periods’ within a couple weeks of each other. Haven’t been organised to track it and luckily it doesn’t come with any PMT symptoms or pain, but that also means I never see it coming. HRT has been a life saver for me, but I really could do without the erratic periods.

How old are you?

There will come a point when you naturally stop bleeding.

hellycat · 18/12/2022 09:22

I am 50. But surely if you take estrogen for four weeks of the month then add progesterone for the second two weeks, you will bleed? I can see why older women are placed on Conti - the progesterone is continuously delivered so the womb lining never gets a chance to 'build up'.

I’m 50 as well and hadn’t been worried about this before this thread. Having googled and got the same 85% stats as above on withdrawal bleed (so presumably 15% of women don’t) and a comment with said that if in late perimenopause it’s likely that the womb lining isn’t building up much over those 2 weeks. I checked the info leaflet in the packet and nothing seems to suggest no bleeding is a problem (and it says “may” have a bleed).

Thanks hellycat! This is exactly what I came to find out about! I’m on month 4 of ES. First 2 months quite heavy period but on day 9 following month. I’m 43. This month nothing, but still the usual bloating and sore boobs. Odd but reassured to know that it’s not just me!
