Hi , just looking for some advice please I’m currently on HRT but I’ve just started to experience a bit of incontinence if I sneeze .
i realise it’s common but I’m mortified , I’m not confident doing pelvic exercises.
can anyone advise me on who I can go and see ?
NHS waiting lists are long for everything maybe I’d consider going privately .

Have a look at the nhs squeezy app. It's simple but effective.

Iwannabeadog · 02/12/2022 09:01

Definitely check out the squeezy app. The NICE guidelines are that you should have access to local oestrogen (to plump up the tissues!) and pelvic health physio. Do pop and see the GP and get a referral. If you prefer the squeezy app has a list of private physios. This can definitely be improved!

Thankyou so much ladies this app looks so helpful . Is the £2.99 a one off payment ? Do I need to subscribe to anything ?

I went to a private pelvic floor physio, definitely helped with quality of pelvic floor exercises. And oestrogen cream helped a lot too.

lipstickwoman · 02/12/2022 10:44

No subscription.. in fact I don't even remember paying for it.

Vaginal estradiol cream or pessaries can help.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 02/12/2022 10:46

I went the private physio route. May be an option for you, depending on how you get on with the app.

Toomanysleepycats · 02/12/2022 10:55

When I’m in bed at night I practice the squeezes. I’ve been doing it so long it actually often sends me to sleep.

Trixiebell06 · 02/12/2022 11:11

It says on the app £2.99 I’m going to give it a go it’s awful that if I sneeze I can actually feel it
the joys of getting older but I’m going to address it now .. I do have oestrogen cream but tbh I should be using it twice a week but tend to forget & only think about it when needed .

You need a womens health physio.

My first app was £90 and follow ups £65.

She felt my pelvic floor and taught me how to do the exercises. Sadly I'm too far on and I'm waiting to see a uro-gynae as I have a cystocele which is causing my leaking.

But I do the squeezy app x3 a day and it has made a difference in 6 weeks.

Dogsgottabone · 02/12/2022 11:14

And use the estrogen cream!

Trixiebell06 · 02/12/2022 13:09

Thankyou so much , I’ll make a start on the Estrogen cream and squeeze 🤞

Hi everyone,

First time post, so please be gentle 😉

I have been suffering silently for a long period of time with stress incontinence. I plucked up the courage to go to my GP and have had pelvic floor therapy and a Urodynamic test. It’s been confirmed I have this and will need surgery.

Has anyone here had either of these surgeries - laparoscopic (keyhole) colposuspension or Urethral bulking agents as I would like to hear opinions and experiences please as I am unsure which option to go with.

thank you!!

Dogsgottabone · 10/08/2023 20:03

@Hannycakes i didn't get that far as I decided not to go any further with investigations. However I think the bulking agents is just an injection (you may already know that). My uro gynae casually offered me a injection of bulking agents. I assumed a quick in and out of the office.

I had colposuspension about 5 years ago.

It did make a massive difference to my day to day life, but wasnt a complete miracle cure - my stress incontinence was really really bad, now i only leak if i have prolonged coughing fits etc rather than all the time like i did before.
