Morning all,

Saw v helpful GP last week and although the HRT seems to be helping a great deal, I still have brain fog/lack of concentration and my libido is completely AWOL.

She thinks testosterone might be helpful but can't prescribe it. Current waiting list for NHS menopause consultant is in excess of 2 years so I suggested finding a private clinic. They'll do blood tests, initial prescribing, monitoring for a few months and then she'll take over prescribing which all sounds fine to me.

Can anyone recommend a private clinic in Edinburgh please? I'll need blood tests so would prefer local, in-person consultation.

Thanks

are you on facebook? If so there's an "egg Talks Menopause" group that might be worth joining. It's Edinburgh based (spin off from the EGG Edinburgh Gossip Girls group but less yummy mummy than that!). I've had a quick scroll through but other than mentions of Spire Murrayfield (no specific consultant mentioned) and Newson Clinic nothing jumps out at me.

Thanks @emmathedilemma - my GP mentioned Spire, but only in the context of other people had gone there but she didn't know anything specific, so maybe I'll give that a go.

Thank you x

i found a mention of a Rosemary Cochraine at Spire but also saying that she was retiring at the end of the year! Their receptionists are pretty good at lining you up with a relevant consultant in my experience, or most have their profiles online.

Hi,

I think I’m starting the menopause, is it normal to have long periods of bleeding?

BurningTheToast · 01/12/2022 18:16

@emmathedilemma - I’d spotted Rosemary Cochrane too and had planned to call and make an appointment. I’ll do that next week and see what the options are.

There is a consultant who women speak very highly of in Glasgow if you're prepared to travel?

Namaste6 · 08/12/2022 09:52

Again, if you're prepared to travel or have a remote consultation (along with blood tests from your GP which could be shared) the ROC clinic has an excellent specialist. They're based in London and Aberdeen. She works out of the Aberdeen branch.

Did you find a gynaecologist in Edinburgh that deals with hormonal issues? I haven’t had any success .

Sunshine1935 · 23/03/2023 17:24

Do you know who it is? I’m happy to travel to Glasgow .

I had a video consultation with Dr Unsworth. I've been on testosterone for almost a year now and my libido has returned. My gp has taken over the care after the initial consultation and prescription
