Constipated, could it be Oestrogel?

Been on patches for a while but had a return of symptoms so using 1 pump of gel in addition.

No other changes of diet or routine so wondering if the cause of my constipation could be the gel, which I started last week. Before that I was pretty regular.

Anyone else experience this and what did you do? I’m trying a handful of prunes daily.

I am on patches and experience the same thing op. Debating if I can cope with this symptom more than the menopause ones.

Periperinotchicken · 23/11/2022 16:07

@ILoveAllRainbowsx thank you so much for sharing that, super helpful

@TellySavalashairbrush I didn’t get that with the patches (which I’m still on) just started the gel to top up. I’m hoping maybe my body will adjust and adapt. Sorry to hear you have been impacted too.

is anyone hearing using Oestrogel on an ad hoc basis (a couple of times a week) to top up their patches?

I’ve stopped using the one pump a day as I’m so constipated despite trying prunes etc

Try nuts. They help oil the way. If I'm really desperate I have a spoon on olive oil. It usually does the job.

SophiaLarsen · 29/11/2022 20:37

I thought it was progesterone that causes the slower gut transit.

Periperinotchicken · 29/11/2022 20:48

@Hellno44 Thank you - I’ll try that but hoping normal business will resume now I’ve stopped the gel

@SophiaLarsen been on Utrogestan for almost a year and no issues. Also @ILoveAllRainbowsx posted a link above to a thread on menopause matters that linked it to Oestrogel. Maybe it affects women differently.

My main question is does anyone top up every couple of days with Oestrogel whilst on patches? Wondering if this could be a solution?

Ducolax is your new friend. The day time one is gentle.

The nighttime one id rather go through labour again 😂 I only take this one if I don’t have to leave the house the next day. But boy does it clear you out. And only take it when I’ve tried fooling myself I’m fixed.

lactolose is also good at shifting stuff.
Movical tastes vile and I cannot keep it down but others swear on it.

. Prunes are too slow. Nuts can make things a lot worse.

strong black coffee works for some people. Costas used to do it for me

You might have to also up the amount of water you take. If your pee is too light you’re drinking too much, too dark not enough. If you’re feeling brave google images as too much/little can fuck up your kidneys. And kidney pain is a fresh type of hell I wouldn’t wish on my worse enemy.

Cooled boiled water can also help.

Bouncing also works wonders!!! I used to do rebound (trampoline) therapy for people with limited movements, worked wonders on all of us 😂

Im not a medical person. Always check contras on any new meds.

Im not taking anything for menopause but get bunged up due to some other meds and health issues.

Its apparently why women get constipated in pregnancy.

Higher oestrogen also helps you absorb iron

For me it was welcomed as I was loosing weight from loose stools.

It can also be a key symptom of hypothyroidism so worth checking that.

More pre biotics can help lots

Davina does

Periperinotchicken · 02/12/2022 20:59

@WarriorN thanks I looked that up, it looks like she top up daily - I’m wondering if I just top up a few times a week as opposed to daily

@Roundandnour

thank you for this - I’m going to store it away, in case I need it.

I’ve stopped topping up with Oestrogel and hoping that will sort me out.
