HRT shortages?

I’m only at the stage if asking my doctor for advice re HRT, but I was speaking to a woman today, and she said she’d been turned down for certain formats due to shortages.

And then I see this? thebms.org.uk/news/british-menopause-society-update-on-hrt-supply/

Is there a serious HRT shortage out there (and is it the Davina effect?!)… I guess I’m interested in what issues I might run I go.

I;ve never been left completely without supply, but certain brands of patch have become unavailable at certain times. Estradot patches, for example, are extremely rare at the moment. But there are alternatives and pharmacists can substitute.

I think there is much more of an issue with the gels, but I haven't used those so can't really comment.

I use the gel and haven't had an issue with shortages.

I've had no supply issues with my tablet. I do know there are continuing supply issues with patches

I've found they don't always have what I want at my nominated pharmacy but they will give me the printed prescription so I can try other pharmacies. I've usually found what I'm after eventually. I'm lucky I live in a city and have loads of pharmacies nearby. I can see it would be more of an issue if you live in a smaller town/village.

I started evorel sequi last week and the prescription was filled no worries at all.

Thanks all, this is reassuring!

I started om gel and utrogestan pills 12 days ago. My GP said that getting hold of gel might be a problem but we'd give it a go. Turns out getting the gel wasn't a problem but my pharmacy didn't have enough pills, and 12 days later they still don't!!
