How long will I be on HRT?

So, I've been on oestrogen patch and 2 x utrogestan tablet for 12 days for 14 months.

I've just turned 50.

Spoke to GP today and she said to change to daily utrogestan single tablet and that I would only be on HRT to manage symptoms, and couldn't say how long for but I got the impression not that long.

Is that right?

I guess I expected to be on HRT for a few more years.

What's your experience?

Some women find symptoms stop in a couple of years, others are still having them in their 80s.

There are menopause consultants speaking online (Youtube - Nick Panay for example talking to Diane Danzebrink, and Lize Earle in a podcast in a series of interviews) who talk about their patients in their 80s who are still on HRT.

You can stay on it as long as you want to.
