Anxiety AFTER starting HRT

PlinkyPlonk1 · 20/11/2022 01:15

I started taking Oestrogel (2pumps) and Utrogestan 3 months ago after having no periods for 2 years. It's helped with the aches and pains, reduced my weight and I have my libido back.

However, I've really struggled these last few months. I have a busy, hectic life generally but have felt like I've always coped. However, I've really noticed my anxiety levels going through the roof these last few months. It occurred to me that it coincides with starting the HRT.

Has this happened to other people?

Thanks!

Yes mine was awful and instant after only a week.

Awful panic attack symptoms, with good advice I've stopped taking it.

I'm having bloods done now for thyroid and histamine reaction and high histamine levels.

As you can have a reaction to HRT if your system is somehow unbalanced to start.

Some "peri" symptoms can in fact be thyroid related, so adding in HRT to an undiagnosed issue can cause the anxiety, raised heart rate, headaches, anxiety etc.

Hope you get to the bottom of it, you can take HRT you may just need to ask advice, pause and restart at lower doses.

I found my anxiety went through the roof on Oestrogel but not on patches so it might be worth asking your GP if you can switch to estrogen patches to see if that makes a difference.
