Oestrogel Pump newbie qq

I've just started on this today. My question is about the pump. How much is one pump?! I followed the instructions and pushed the pump down... was expecting a small amount to come out but it seemed to be way more than I thought.
Bearing in mind it's a medical dose I thought it would have some kind of mechanism to measure it....

There is a mechanism that measures it. Once the top of the pump is fully pressed down, that's 1 measure. It's roughly a teaspoon. (maybe even less.)

It does tell you to press the pump once and discard the first blob of gel as that's usually not a full measure (I don't bother with that as it's a waste of product!)

I reckon it's more like half a teaspoon but it does look like quite a lot. For me, one pump covers the whole inner thigh of one leg and probably half of the other one. The layer I get that way is thin and dries quickly. I'm 5'10" and my thighs are not particularly fat or thin.
