I am 51. Had Mirena since 2006 for contraception. No history of bad/heavy periods.
When I first had coil fitted, I had a monthly light bleed but that has stopped for the last 2 ish years. I am currently about 4 years into my latest Mirena and I was told this would be my last and it could stay in longer than the usual 4 years.
Today I had a very brown bleed. I actually thought it was poo. It seemed like a one-off rather than a period style bleed.
Should this be treated as a post menopausal bleed and should I expect a two week referral? My concern is that as I have had the Mirena, I don't actually know if I am post menopausal or not.
I will be calling GP in the morning but just checking on what I should expect.
