Hit a brick wall

Feeling absolutely wretched.
Been on the 75 patch for a couple of years. Had the mirena fitted back in June. In July, my oestrogen levels were 305. Symptoms never really been fully under control.

This week, I've not slept at all. At night, my eyes are just " shut" that's it. I'm angry, irritable, demotivated and exhausted. Today I phoned in sick because I'm just so tired.

My brain is wired; teenage son displaying worrying behaviours, I need a higher paid job, loads to do on the house, family live miles away.. life is getting too much now.

I tried the 100 patch and I feel worse and gel isn't absorbed well by me.

I just want to be able to sleep.

Oral HRT? Sleep is my main issue and the gel/patches did very little for me.

I know exactly what you mean about eyes being shut but not being asleep. It is really awful.

The lack of sleep is horrendous. 4 consecutive nights of being wide awake. I can't cope. Going to have to do something for sure

Are you able to get some fresh air just to help knock yourself out a bit? I have to dog walk so I'm always physically tired if not mentally tired.

I guess you've tried all the other stuff like headspace, yoga etc?

Runaround50 · 31/10/2022 11:16

@Dogsgottabone yes i do try to go for a long walk daily after work. I always feel mentally cluttered, like the brain won't switch off. There's too much to do it seems.

Im not in full menopause but I definitely think I am perimenopausal since last two years as I have started with bad anxiety, sleep issues, bleeding between periods and shorter cycles. Went to the GP and they tested my FSH levels and they said they are normal and I'm not perimenopausal. Anyway, to help with my sleep issues, they prescribed Amitriptyline and honestly, it's been a lifesaver. Definitely worth looking into.

@Runaround50 I understand that totally. I find some days I can't concentrate on my audio book so have to listen to music when I walk.

Yesterday I spent my morning walk in tears (mood swings are my current symptom) but I definitely felt better for doing it.

How is your diet? Are you drinking lots of water? Fresh air in the bedroom?

What has your doctor said about the lack of sleep?

@Mummysgogetter if you are in your 40s one thing I've learnt from this board and all the books I've read, is that peri meno is diagnosed from symptoms not FSH levels which can fluctuate. Try another GP.

I am speaking to mine this week and will be asking about HRT for the first time. I'm 44 and have a long list of symptoms.
