I am 53..recently my periods have gone very erratic...slight bleeding for a day..stops and starts again.

But my body is aching all over and my feet and hands are sore...ankles feel tired

Is this peri / menopause?

Bloody hope so as I feel the same!! I’m 47, erratic periods (had 4 this year, about 5 last year). Recently my body aches - it’s a new symptom for me - as if I’ve run a marathon (not that I’ve ever run one!).
Hopefully someone else will come along with wise words…

Yes aching and sore joints are symptoms of peri menopause. But they are also a symptom of other factors such as low vitamin d. Might be worth a chat with your GP, have some bloods done to check your levels as vitamin D deficiency can make you really poorly.

And have a chat re HRT, it really helps!

If you're 53 it most definitely will be peri and soon to be actual meno.

Low and fluctuating hormones present differently in different women but I'd say the most common problems are aches and pains, sleep issues and mood/anxiety issues.

Are you considering hrt? If not then plenty of physical activity to keep joints moving and promote good sleep will help.

Thanks all. I was exercising but then my feet starting hurting so I stopped about 6 weeks ago...I think I will have to start again..swimming seems a good start.

Until now I hadn't considered hrt..but I can't carry on like this..I feel like I am 103 not 53!

HRT got rid of vast majority of my aches and pains - including Plantar Fascilitis

That's really interesting because I think the aches and pains started with plantar fascilitis!

Am going to also start yoga and some light weight workouts
