What do these blood results mean?

I've been diagnosed with early menopause following chemo 10 years ago. My gynae has however just sent through my blood results and I am a little unclear. My progesterone is very low but my other results seem to be within the normal range for the part of my cycle when the bloods were taken (around day 6).

My FSH was 4.1 (range was 3.5-12.5)
My LH was 3.1 (range was 2.4-12.6)
Ostraediol was 70 (26.7 - 156)
Oestrogen was 60 (37-178).

My progesterone however was under 0,1 (couldn't be measured).

Any thoughts? Could I have low progesterone for some totally unrelated reason? I have regular, 'normally heavy' periods.

I am seeing my gynae on Wednesday but would be grateful for any insight anyone could give in advance! Thank you.

I work in biochemistry so I'll do my best.
Progesterone that low on day 6 is normal. You would have to measure it again ~day 21 when it peaks. Progesterone tends to start to rise on day 12 of the cycle.

Thank you for replying x

From what I've read menopause is linked to very high FSH and ostrogen, so I really don't understand what my gynae is talking about.

Can you say how you have been diagnosed with POI?
Was it on those blood tests or something else?

FSH over 30 usually shows post menopause.

There must be other reasons for your diagnosis?
what's your history of periods etc?

I went to my gynae a few months back saying I had really bad PMS and could we do something. She ran these blood tests (am abroad so treatment is all private), and called me last week to diagnose early menopause and put my on progesterone supplements daily.

I had strong chemo 10 years ago for ovarian cancer, as well as the diseased ovary and tube removed. Since then I've had no issues (three children in five years...) and was discharged by my oncologist last year. I have regular periods (28-29 cycles) which last 5-7 days. I'm 40 and my mum hit menopause around 50.

So nothing other than this blood test and my chemo/cancer history.
