Utrogestan side effects

I'm taking the Evorel gel/Utrogestan combination of HRT and I've noticed that about halfway through the first two weeks of the month when I take the Utrogestan I have a day or two of being very emotional and tearful and/or cross and impatient.

Now, it might just be that the 8th of each month is a particularly bad day for me for some bizarre reason but I wondered whether anyone else had found this?

I've been on this for a while and GP suggested moving to one pill a day every day soon so maybe that will help. Although I quite fancy trying patches as I'm fed up with the gel I take enough meds anyway. But that's another post!

Utrogestan was awful for me. I was exhausted, depressed. So then I was advised to take it vaginally and every day at half dose instead of 2 weeks at full dose. It helped but not enough. Now I have mirena coil and it's ace. Doesn't sound that bad for you though, but if you don't already try it vaginally instead, if it's the gel caps you can do this.

Thanks @Nosser09 - that's helpful to know that it's not just me that didn't react well to it. And I'm glad that you found a way that works although a coil's definitely not for me.

I'm due to talk to GP about it so I'll raise that and see what she thinks about moving to a daily single tablet and trying it vaginally instead.

Good luck, I'm sure it will make a difference for you

I tried moving to daily ( vaginally) but there was a lot of bleeding. Light but annoying. (Weeks of it!) i was warns there might be. I wasn't ready and had also gone up a patch which I think increased how much bleeding there would be.

I've gone back to 2 weeks x 2 capsules vaginally (technically 12 out of 4 weeks.)

Considering coil just so I can forget about it but otherwise it works well for me!

Hi all. I have just recently been told I am estrogen dominant and my doctor has told me to take 200mg utrogestan anight continously. I was having break through bleeding hence the change. Since I started the increased dose I haven't slept well and in fact feel like it's making my palpitations at night worse.

Has anyone else experienced this?
