Just Stopped having depo as 49 and didnt have periods for 18 years due to this - had fsh blood results 87.7 dr says post menopause now so 99% not fertile however how do they know 100% - don’t want to be pregnant at 50 !!! Need another fsh result ina few weeks to check but really don’t want to have any more contraception but need to know i won’t get caught?

The NHS guidelines say that if you stop having periods under the age of 50 you should continue to use contraception for two years. If you have your last period after the age of 50, keep taking precautions for one year after your last period.

Blood tests for menopause can only tell you what's happening on the day they are taken and hormone levels can go up and down. Far better to be safe than sorry, as they say.
