mefanamic acid

I was prescribed mefanamic acid for heavy periods with bad period pains. Naproxen gives me really bad stomach pains. Ibuprofen is ok.

Just got my period - would you take the mefanamic acid or ibuprofen? The pain doesn't seem too bad yet but will get worse overnight and tomorrow. Worried about mefanamic being slow-acting and my stomach.

I used this many years ago for painful periods and it helped. On the bad days it was better than just the usual paracetamol. As with all NSAIDs take it on a full stomach to avoid any issues.

Was a life saver for me. However I found I had to take it before the pain got unbearable, and no later, for it to really take the edge off.
