Hair thinning and breaking

PastaForLife · 12/10/2022 07:17

I’m in peri and been on HRT for nearly a year.
My hair has been thinning for some time but after my last appointment at the hairdressers, my hair has started breaking. It’s now thin, frizzy and straggly.
Its clear my hair will not take dyeing anymore so I may have to embrace the grey 😭 which is fine. I’d rather be grey than bald.

In the meantime there anything I can do to to get better hair again? I’m olaplexing, deep conditioning and taking hair vitamins.
Can the GP help? I’m only 47 and need to look professional for my job. I can’t wear a hat all day to hide this frizzy mess.

Get yourself to GP and ask for a Vitamin D, B12, ferritin and testosterone blood test. Or even better, if your GP will give you one ask for a DUTCH test which will check all of your hormones and adrenals.

It’s either stress or hormones and sorry OP no fancy shampoos or oils will work. It needs to be fixed from the inside.

Thank you. That’s helpful.

I have biotin and vitamin B12 injections. My nails are definitely stronger and I’m hoping I’ll see the improvement in my hair. I also sleep on a silk pillowcase and wear a silk turban at night (fortunately I am single!!).

I’ve got a silk pillowcase, I may have to get another one as I daren’t go back to cotton now.
