Hi , just need some advice please, i take 40mg citalopram for anxiety & 1mg Kliovance HRT, i'm 55. for the past 2 weeks my anxiety has absolutely spiked, making me feel horrendous, having trouble sleeping & eating as well. just wondered if its maybe menopause, and the HRT needs changing, any thoughts appreciated.

Hiya claire. I'm 47 I have been having a nightmare 4 months. I'm and out of A and e. Chest pains, palps, my blood pressure through the roof. One reading was 171/141. Very scary. My heart rate reaches125. Went to docs last week decided now it's the change. Ad to monitor my blood pressure over a week. It goes up and down all the time. Have got anxiety. Was prescribed mitazapine. Took it twice never again. Given beta blockers brought heart rate down to fast was ill from that so never again. How did you cope with the perimenopause. Got docs tomorrow afternoon cos they want to see me after my last bloods. These palpitations are so scary.
Hope you are ok. Hope we can chat

Hi , thanks for answering , my first recollection of the change was about 5 years ago, I got up one morning, had a massive panic attack , scared me so much I went to urgent care. Then at work a few times I just burst into tears. I’ve been on anti anxiety meds for years, then when this happened I started HRT, which did help until this latest episode , maybe the HRT needs tweaking. I guess I’m just seeking reassurance that I’m not going nuts. It’s bloody awful . I’m off work at mo, can’t face it .

I feel as if all docs think I'm a fruit. I think I'm dying of an heart attack everyday. Can't really help you about he stuff you take but can talk aby anxiety and all other stuff. It's good to talk. I got no one that understands. My daughter 17 but she doesn't understand. She cares tho. Did you have high BP as well cos mine gone through roof. Your not going nuts it's a change and a scary change and not enough docs understand and they make me feel as if I'm making it all up

I'm 47 & never suffered anxiety in my life. These days I feel gripped by it & heart palps are constant - no exaggeration. It's got to stage when I notice if my heart is beating normally. Beta blockers don't work. I'm on hrt.. docs just dismiss me after having clear ecg & 24 hr monitor- which was during a bizarre 6 wk period where they stopped - I've had them since Feb. Post covid jab... Hm..

Saza06 · 12/10/2022 17:44

hiya Twordle
I have ad three ecgs and a chest x-ray but I still worry.
My pals bound of my chest. Just want sum answers. I have had anxiety for years but nothing like this. It's horrid. I don't know if can have HRT cos my BP so high. Does make you think a by these jobs. Do you get symptoms daily

twordle · 12/10/2022 18:14

Every single day. Worse at night Apart from a few weeks over the summer when I thought they'd gone but came back about 6 weeks ago. Nothing changed in my lifestyle during that time.. it's good to know I'm not alone! What can we do tho??! I started another thread about magnesium as heard that was good but so far no effect.

Saza06 · 12/10/2022 18:23

I got docs tomorrow had bloods done last week cos I said to the doc you missing summat. I'm not right. I got to take a week's worth of BP readings with me so I'm just hoping I have some answers tomorrow.
it is hard and nothing you can do. Avin to do this BP reading ain't helping cos the increasing was the worst it bin ever. Am on linisopril 10mg bin on it 8 years never no problem. Can the change affect all this in the body.
you not alone there loads of forums but so many years old this is the only up to date one I come across.
I'm here to chat I need sumone to talk to. I'm so scared.
😥

This anxiety is the worst, and I think it must be due to hormonal changes cos I’m having hot flushes at night, not had flushes that bad up til now. I’m reading a self help anxiety book , and really try to keep reminding myself that I’m safe, not going mad etc, but it’s bloody hard at times. My mind feels like it don’t work properly. I don’t sleep or eat well either . Got docs in morning, hoping she can help. Thankyou to everyone who has responded, good to know we’re not alone .

Bin to docs. Given me propagation again but a low dose scared to death to take it. Told me am going through change but need to sort BP and anxiety out. Worried my heart gonna stop if I take it. I'm the same as you Claire with eating and sleeping. I don't get the hot flashes I get cold ones. I start shivering and shaking and I'm absolutely froze. My gas bill through the roof lol. Glad there is conversations on here. Your not alone. Hope all goes well with the docs tomorrow. Take care

AngusThermopyle · 13/10/2022 17:09

@Claire290167 My lovely gp prescribes me Amitriptyline, initially for my 3am waking insomnia- it helps to get you back to sleep easier, but it also helped reduce my anxiety so much I've had none or any panicky attacks for three years now.

Saza06 · 13/10/2022 17:13

Hiya Glad your doing so well on yours. Hope it continues. It's good when medications work for sum people. Take care

Stressedmum1966 · 13/10/2022 17:18

Just be very careful about assumptions re the menopause. I put a number of symptoms down to that. I actually had thyroiditis - discovered after had my thyroid and lymph nodes removed due to thyroid cancer which had spread.

I had a big op, have recovered well & have none of the presumed menopause symptoms so always check.

Saza06 · 13/10/2022 17:27

Hiya Mum. I agree with what your saying. Docs don't always get it right. Sorry to hear what you bin through. I bin Bk and f ore docs and hospital for months so just hoping they are right on the menopause

Hi, any advise welcome. 61, menopausal, all the normal symptoms, but struggling to cope with the vaginal dryness. Using creams and pessaries, but have to use them twice a day as the effects wear off after 7/8 hours. Can't bear the thought that this is my daily routine for the rest of my life. Its really getting me down, every waking moment this is all I'm thinking about.😥
