I'm 45 and losing my sanity- stress, weight gain, fuzzy head, no libido and so tired. I'm wanting discuss hrt. Do I make Dr appointment? Nurse appointment? Just ring for phone appointment? Do they prescribe if asked or do they do bloods first?

At 45, you don’t need blood tests to diagnose. Your GP must follow the NICE Guidelines ( download and print them if you want ) and base it on symptoms. Once established from that you are in peri menopause, assuming you still have periods, then your doctor should discuss treatment and that includes HRT. If you’ve read up on testosterone, for the NHS to prescribe you need to emphasise no libido as that’s the only reason they’ll give it to you despite it being important for other things. I got it privately and it’s made a huge diff to energy, my body, and brain fog. Plus libido! I’m so so much better on HRT. Good luck

@WahineToa thanks so much, exactly what I needed. Glad I wouldn't need bloods. How long does testosterone take to kick in?

It varies, for me it was very quickly. But the total effect can take months and months until your hormones really adapt.
