hives from estrogen

I have just started HRT: Evorel patches and Utrogestan. My Dr said I should build up slowly, so I've started with half a 50mg patch twice a week. When I first applied the patch, I got hayfever symptoms. They cleared with antihistamines. Afrer 1.5 weeks, when I took off (half) patch number 3, I found a big, itchy hive underneath it. The hive is localised to the area the patch was, and nowhere else. I put patch 4 on about 12 hours ago, and so far so good ... but hive from patch 3 is still itchy on the other butt cheek. When I googled hives and estrogen patches, I read horror stories, and contact your Dr immediately. I'm hoping this isn't actually such a big deal, as I really want to stay on HRT. Anyone else get localised hives, and just stick with it?

Additional detail: I didn't get a hive from my first patch. I used tegaderm to hold in place the patch that did get a hive. Maybe it's the tegaderm patch, and not the estrogen patch at all?

It’ll probably be the glue/adhesive on the patch.

I think it’s sweating under the patch that causes it. I was fine with patches for a few months, but then each patch would make me itchy and I would have a perfect square of red itchy welts on removing it. This coincided with a period of bad night sweats. I moved onto oestrogel and find it much better in every way.
