Clots and heavy periods

I am 51 and after a lifetime of medium flow 28 day cycle periods my menstrual cycle has gone to pot. last month my cycle was 33 and now this month it's 20. What's worrying me is the heaviness and massive clots I'm passing. I've never had this before and just passed a 2.5 inch clot with associated hourly pad changes. I'm already on ferrous fumarate due to the heavy bleeding,I've had a recent pelvic us which was clear.

Can anyone advise me regarding the size of clots,is this normal or should I see my GP. I am medium risk if breast cancer due to familial risk so GP has already said no to hrt.

Many thanks

Oh poor you. I had terribly heavy bleeding and clots too. Mirena coil sortede out completely but it sounds like that might not be an option for you due to risk factors. How about tranexamic acid?

I think there’s ways of taking hrt that are less worrying for breast cancer risks.

I had mega clots and ridiculous bleeding. Then one glorious day it all stopped. Tranxamic acid helped a lot.

@HMSSophia did your periods just stop completely? Sounds bliss. Thankyou for the suggestions I will ask my GP about transexamic acid to try.
