I'm sorry no advice. I'm right here with you (47). Doctors were unhelpful, I had blood tests and they told me everything was normal. Not being able to sleep is the worst part.

I'm 41 and I started to get all the Perimonopause symptoms when I hit 40. I was a wreck. Emotional all the time for no reason, night sweats and just did not feel myself. Have found some food supplements by Health and Her. They have dedicated Perimenopause Support tablets. Just gave them a try for a month and they are working wonders.

Not been to see a GP as yet. I have some friends who are early 40's like me and they are struggling with GP and I have recommended these tablets to them.

My sister had bad peri went on HRT and wishes she did it sooner sorry.

im a few years younger and entering that phase currently managing with exercise/diet and supplements etc but after seeing how well my sister is doing I wouldn’t hesitate to go onto HRT IF I need to. Life is too short to be miserable!

You don’t need blood tests to diagnose peri menopause. Hormone levels are too changeable to be reliable.

it’s in the NICE guidance. After 45 you don’t need blood tests to get HRT. Symptoms are enough.

Shineyhappyperson22 thank you. I am going back to the gp.

I take lemon balm. I can have raging pms and it calms me right down. It definitely works. I also take L-theanine with it sometimes.

Certain foods can trigger or help so a food diary is a good idea.

FredaFox · 03/10/2022 07:19

I have few symptoms but I'm finding my hormones are making me feel very low. I'm ignoring friends messages, just want to be alone. Everything is hard work then once my hormones go back to normal again I'm ok

I'm 48 so should probably speak to the dr

In it right now. I could have written your post a year ago.

I’m needed some tweaks to my treatment, and I’m not going to pretend you’re going to feel 30, but the difference you’ll feel is astounding.

Just get the treatment. There are no medals for suffering through it. It’s saved my life, and I don’t say that lightly.

Oh can I join you I am 47 and the exact same, I have fibromyalgia too and the two of them combined plus the usual stresses of life (and teenagers) have just pushed me over the edge.

im currently having periods one week on one week off despite being prescribed the mini pill currently taking
magnesium (two different kinds)
iron
folic acid
vitamin D
calcium
vitamin C
vitamin B12

so I’m probably not deficient in any of these, my diet and exercise could be better though. I’m constantly tired, depressed (despite 40mg citalopram), uninterested in life, itchy scalp, mood swings, irritable, usual aches and pains etc. I wake up in the morning and just cry.

Afterfire · 03/10/2022 07:45

If you had a thyroid deficiency you’d take thyroxine. Why wouldn’t you take oestrogen (HRT) for an oestrogen deficiency (menopause)? That’s all you’re doing. Replacing the hormones that are lacking. No other natural remedies etc are going to do this.

I find doing a lot of exercise, eating well, cutting out alcohol really helps

basically rethinking lifestyle choices, going to the gym or for a swim instead of Netflix and a glass of wine.

it helped physically and mentally

I was doing all this. Peri still hit me like a truck. HRT means I can continue the exercise.
