Really painful knees?

Hi, I’m on hrt. Have had some back and leg aches for a while at the end of working day (office job) but for the last few days my knees have been really painful, and they click when I walk up stairs. Could this be menopause related, does anyone know?

I'm the same - age 52, been on hrt for 2 years, about 6 months ago I suddenly got creaky knees, I'm now struggling with stairs and getting out of the car. It's as if I've aged 30 years overnight. Now my hips and elbows have joined in. What the hell is going on? I'm fit, low bmi and been active all my life. I'd be interested to know if anyone thinks this means i need more oestrogen or a different kind of hrt? Reluctant to rush straight to GP as suspect I'll get told 'it's your age...'

I started taking cod liver oil and it has helped.

I think painful joints come to all of us . I constantly feel like I've been hit by a bus . I'm not on HRT .

Yes I am reluctant to see GP, it was a real battle to get HRT in the first place. I guess I could try a veggie omega 3, thanks for the tip (adds to daily supplements of vitamin d, probiotic, evening primrose… god I must rattle)

Me too - it was almost the bloody week I turned 50 !

I'm on hrt.

Have been diagnosed with early degenerative changes in my knees due to osteoarthritis, but now my ankle and foot have joined the party . Ankle swells and really painful- waiting for X-ray .
I feel like I aged 20 years in a week ! Hate it .

Yep my knees get painful in the evening, and often keep me awake at night! Grrrr…

If anyone can recommend a good omega 3 I would be grateful.

Don’t forget to keep your joints warm in the cold/damp. I bought a pair of leg warmers last winter, to keep my ankles warm in the morning.

I have knee problems. X rays show osteoarthritis which apparently is most common in women over 40. So I don't think your knee problems are necessarily directly related to menopause but joint problems do often start to happen at the same life stage as menopause. I think there's some research looking at possible links between falling estrogen levels and osteoarthritis.

Solgar 7 joint support is very good.

i’m in early 50s, not on hrt - my knees are always painful. Knee supports help if I am doing a lot of driving or walking or going up & down stairs cleaning & tidying.
