IUD - anyone had one in peri? Contraception nightmare!

48, have had some mild peri symptoms for a couple of years. Periods became irregular but definitely still happening. Divorce and new man means I need contraception... have been on mini pill for about 6 months. Desogestrel first, 4-5 months of, but it made my psoriasis come up and I'm covered in patches of psoriasis, worst I've ever had it. This also happened with Mirena a few years ago so I know it's the hormones. Trying Noriday now to see if it's any better but I don't hold much hope, so thinking of hormone free options.

Anyone had a IUD/copper coil fitted or in through peri? I had one years ago, made me bleed for 10 days out of 30. Could deal with the odd cramp but after a year or so I had enough of the bleeds! Wondering if it'd have the same effect now I'm in peri and having less frequent periods anyway.

Other thought is I'm probably not that likely to get pregs at my age but I've had 5 pregnancies and for 3 of those there was literally only one occasion I could have fallen... am very wary of that possibility as I definitely don't want any more kids. Is there a magic way to work out how likely you are to get pregs at this age? 🤔
