Help! Starting HRT (utrogestan)

Hi all
After 3 long years of pestering and arguing with them, my GP finally prescribed HRT. I'm 47 and definitely peri. I've got estrogen gel and utrogestan tablets (100mg). I'm have mostly regular periods (between 3-6 week cycle these days.). Everything was done via email as my doctor doesn't do face to face appointments unless absolutely necessary. She has said estrogen (1-2 pumps) each day and utrogestan 1 tablet for 12 days every 3 months. My understanding is that this kind of long cycle is only for people under consultant care. I will try to speak to her but it's not easy to get an appointment. I'm wondering if I should start the estrogen gel and do 200mg of utrogestan after 2 weeks regardless? I don't think her dosage will protect my uterus adequately? Trouble is she prescribed 3 months of gel and only 30 utrogestan tabs so I'll have to try to get an extra script and pay again if I go against her advice. Also I'm on day 29 of my cycle. If I ignore her dosage and go for a 12 day dosage, when should I start? I feel like GPs don't seem to understand or advise about HRT adequately. I'm just so confused! Any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks

Every 3 months doesn’t sound right. I have patches and I take utrogestan 2 weeks out of 4. I’d go back and clarify that’s what she meant. Is there anyone at your surgery who may know what they’re on about when it comes to hrt? I think I’ve been very lucky as my GP was on it straight away and very helpful.

If she prescribed for 3 months why didn't you only get 12 tablets? On the regime you think you are on, that would be how many you would need. Whereas you have been prescribed enough for almost 3 months

It is wrong. You need the utrogesten 2 out of 4 weeks with the gel.

Thank you. I thought it sounded wrong! I think I'll take 2 tabs for 12 days from the 15th of this month and try to speak to her in the meantime!!
