Question re HRT Patches - Compatability with Swimming/Sauna/Prolonged Immersion in Water…

SenoritaNaturista · 30/09/2022 17:30

Can I ask if anyone is a keen athlete/serious swimmer/sauna user - and uses HRT patches - specifically if they stick and stay in place satisfactorily for these activities?

My GP has suggested I can choose to change from Utrogestan (causing an increase in appetite) to try a patch instead.

Trouble is, I can spend 3 hours immersed in water, a combination of sea/pool swimming, sailing and saunas - I am concerned that I wouldn’t find a patch that would stay attached and effective in those conditions?

Glad of any advice, experience and recommendations from anyone please.

Wondering about this too....

I used everol conti patches and often spend time in saunas etc, and I've never had one come off.

Ive just come back from a holiday abroad and spent a lot of time in the water. The patches don't come off

I hate them (but am persevering). They do come off. Not all the time, but they don't stick particularly well when you sweat or bathe (or worse, sweat after exercising & jump in the bath - then you will often see the patch float past you). I gave up on holiday, time in the sea / pool / wetsuits on and off - I often didn't realise until the evening and it was gone.

They also turn up very slightly at the edge, so the edges go dirty from fabric / dye etc ("Mummy, why have you got a black sticker on your bottom"). When you take it off you're left with a black mark that you then have to scrub off.

Try them and see how you get on. My friend has the same brand as I do (same as a PP mentions), thinks they're wonderful. I think its down to the individual, everyone is different.

They dobr come off but leave a black square on your bum or leg. Im not convinced that they are so wonderful but im persevering.

Don't

I use Evorel Conti and they’ve never come off. On holiday I was in the sea, pool and shower a lot every day and had no problems.
I’m very careful about putting them on. Shower, dry thoroughly, exfoliate a bit with a rough towel, leave skin to cool and air dry completely. Apply carefully, press with palm of hand for 30 seconds.
The black marks are a bit annoying, but if I sprinkle with talc and rub, the adhesive comes off in little balls.

I use Evorel and swim, sauna, steam regularly. Also love long hot baths. Never had one come off.

LizzieSiddal · 28/10/2022 23:07

I swim regularly and one has never come off. I find them difficult to get off when I need to change them!

A tip if you do use them, yes you will get a mark left on the skin which is dreadful to get off, use baby oil and cotton wool and it comes off very easily.

Thanks for all the replies and positivity, it’s been hugely helpful before my review with GP on Monday

I know this is a Zombie thread, but I've recently started with Evorel patches and am due to go on a spa break at the weekend. I'm hoping to use the pool, sauna and steam rooms but am worried the patch may come off? Also just Googled and one website said not to wear in a sauna as It'll cause a surge of too much oestrogen. Wondering if I'm better off not using one at all for the 24hrs I'm at the spa place (I'm due a patch change the day before, but might hold off and just put a fresh one on when home).

Any advice or tips appreciated! I know this is a Zombie thread, but I've recently started with Evorel patches and am due to go on a spa break at the weekend.
