Constant period on HRT

I started HRT - oestrogen patches and utrogestan for 14 days (2 tablet) for 14 days out of 28. Prior to this I was perimenopausal with fairly regular periods every 26 days which were on the lengthy side. On the whole I feel much much better and all my symptoms (which were anxiety, constant rage, joint pain and lethargy) have more or less gone away. However, the downside is that I seem to be constantly on my period. The first couple of months I managed to line up the progesterone bleed with my period and it was ok but since then it’s all gone haywire and I’m bleeding around 15-20 days out of every month which is really not great. I talked to the GP and they said not to worry - it was very common and would settle down after 6 months but it seems to be getting worse. I suspect that my own cycle is fighting with the HRT but I’m not sure if I should be tinkering with the progesterone timing to try and get it back in sinc? Gp also suggested going on mirena coil was the best solution but I don’t really want to. Has anyone else gone through this and managed to sort it out? TIA

Yeah, mine were fine the first couple of months, as in stayed with the normal 28 day cycle, then constant spotting, then a miss, then fine again, now doing another spotting/miss kind of thing. I have been on HRT since Feb. A previous poster said their GP had advised sticking to dates, rather than cycles, because of this issue. So, I have been starting my Progesterone on the 25th of each month regardless of cycle. For the few months when I had a proper period, they settled into a 42 day cycle, which interestingly, is what I had way back when I started my periods in my teens, and then later when I was not on any contraceptive and having babies etc.

That’s good to know that I’m not the only one! That’s a good idea to stick to the same date monthly. My GP did say the same thing (I..e. Just stick to the regime of 14 days a month) so perhaps it will sort itself out eventually.
