High FSH after Covid Vaccine

Hello,

Just looking for some hope and reassurance.

After my first dose of Moderna in May 2021 I went on to have Hot flashes and missed several periods. My FSH levels were checked on the 5th July 2021 they were 27.5. 2 weeks later my doctor brought me back for more bloods and FSH levels were down to 9.3 and the hot flashes had stopped. On the 9th August I had my period and went on to have regular periods all year plus 2 pregnancies that sadly ended in miscarriage.

In June 2022 I decided to have my second moderna dose (had been too scared after first reaction). After the jab slowly but surely the hot flashes began but with more of a delay than the first time. I had 2 strange periods one of which lasted 9 days. Very painful ovulation and hormones seemed all over the place. I'm now on cycle day 44 of what was suppose to be my third cycle since but it's hasn't come and I have 10 to 15 hot flashes a day. My FSH levels were checked again, they are 56.

I'm only 36. Was 35 the first time this happened. I'm just really worried I won't be so lucky this time with my FSH levels returning to normal and my regular cycles returning.

Just wondering if there's anyone out there who's had a similar experience and can offer some hope?!

Sorry, I can't help. But I'm in the exact same situation as you. And I also want to know if my premature menopause/premature ovarian failure is due to the vaccine. The timing is just too close not to wonder if there's an association. I'm 39. My period has always been so regular... it suddenly stopped after my 3rd shot (pfizer for the first time). It has been 8 months. Never returned. Fsh and lh are high. Estradiol low. Absolutely no menopausal symptoms.

Have you not had a period for 8 months?

I had this happen the first time I had the vaccine but after 3 months I went back to normal. So did my FSH.

Had my second vaccine and had the same happen again. Was having 15 to 20 hot flushes a day two weeks ago but now they're stopping. I've had 2 today and they're very mild. Hoping they'll completely stop soon and that my periods will return. Will keep you updated.

Have you been to see your GP? X

So I have a positive story. Ive written it on here before too.
I’ve been peri menopausal since 30. We tried for another baby for years, kept missing periods but not pregnant. Got tested and doctor said my amh was really low and this was the start. I was 35 with my first vaccine phizer and my period came back regularly for months then went away again. Thought nothing of it. It had been ten months since my last period prior to that. Had my second dose November last year and my periods came back as regular as the first time and went away again. Still thought nothing of it. Then my boobs started to hurt and my sense of smell went haywire and I thought I’ll just test anyway. Pregnant!

Over the moon, ecstatic, can’t believe my luck. Phone the doctor who tells me “given your history I wouldn’t get your hopes up, I need you to come in to be seen because there’s certain types of female cancer can cause a positive pregnancy test” and that’s it. Be just my luck. Sit for five days thinking do I fight this? Do I just accept it and enjoy what I’ve got left? Do I start writing letters and recording videos for the kids?
Go to the doctors, get bloods done and sent to the hospital for X-rays and ultrasound and….. there’s a heartbeat! She’s 13 weeks tomorrow and if I could have an annual phizer in the hopes of getting another I’d be all over it. I have everything crossed for you but I hope that little nugget was a positive enough story for you.

Aw that's lovely news. Congratulations.

Did you have high FsH before?

The past week my hot flushes have pretty much stopped. I get the odd one here and there but very mild compared to a few weeks ago. I've had days and days of EWCM and my breasts feel fuller. Hoping this means my hormones are starting to come back and I should get a period soon. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks for the positive story. X

I don’t really know. I was 30 when they diagnosed peri menopause or premature ovarian failure as they call it and it had been five years so I’d eventually accepted it and never did anything else. I had hot flushes at first but it was the sleeplessness and the hair thinning I found worst. I’m pretty sure I’ve got arthritis too but again I’ve not really done anything about it.
