Are hot flushes cyclical?

2 weeks ago I mentioned to my DH that my hot flushes seemed much improved. I am 55 and after a period at 11 months into peri now almost at another 12 month without any. My flushes this week have been horrific, many each day and they are driving me insane. some weeks are good and some are just absolutely awfuI.I have chosen not to take HRT because I am very good at growing lumps and bumps and have had a rare benign breast tumour in the past. Am really getting to the end of my tether now with the hot flushes, insomnia and aching joints. My GP is pretty rubbish generally and I am wondering whether it would be worth saving hard and getting a private consultation with a menopause specialist to discuss.

I dtarted on HRT patches recently and what a relief, all the symptoms disappeared and I feel back to my old self.
I would get the consultation but have you thought about trying a gel to see if you get any relief from symptoms? Good luck what ever you decide, it’s not a great time for us women. I was exhausted with it all and didn’t seek help earlier as a GP had told me with my medical history there was no way he would prescribe HRT, low and behold it’s not a contraindication at all.
