What to ask at doctor's appointment

I've got a dr's appointment next week because of

heavy periods / flooding / changing tampon every hour
periods every 3 - 3.5 weeks
...and also
sore hands and feet
muscle aches and pains
knackered and can't concentrate but do a job that needs it

I'm 50 soon, healthy diet, exercise a lot, not overweight, don't smoke, don't drink.
I'm not sure what to expect or ask for except "make it all go away!"

Any ideas what I should ask?

You need to have some idea of what you want, so if you want to try hrt do some googling and see what you think you'd prefer. Body identical is the safest so oestrogel and utrogestan, as you have periods the utrogestsn would be taken 12days a month. Some women have a mirena coil for the progesterone side of it instead of taking utrogestan.

If you don't want hrt not sure what else the gp can offer as it all sounds pretty standard peri issues. It's a case of tolerating it or going on hrt tbh. Good luck!

Sounds as if you need to consider the Mirena coil for your heavy periods- read up about it online (there is loads of info.)

You can use HRT alongside it and would only need estrogen as the Mirena gives you the progestogen side of it.

You clearly have classic peri issues- which are the physical symptoms as well as the heavy periods.

Thank you for your advice, it is really helpful as I had no idea where to start.

I did a bit of reading about Mirena coil and some people said it had caused problems with low mood and anxiety, which I have had difficulties with in the past although I'm fine at the moment. Does anyone have any experience of Mirena coil affecting mood (or not affecting it!)?
