Hi, I'm 49, am certain am now menopausal. I have anxiety which is not new to me but usually triggered by a tricky time. I have restarted my anti ds which will take a while I know to kick in. Other symptoms - brain fog, tiredness, sweating !and lack of sex drive. I do have the mirena coil so progesterone will be covered- any one in similar position? Did the GP prescribe you Oestrogen easily?

Anxiety was my first symptom. I had never had anxiety before and didn't know what was happening. I rang gp ( covid times) and she prescribed HRT patch. I started that day and three days later anxiety had stopped. Three weeks later I was back to normal and realised how many symptoms I had but didn't connect to the menopause like joint pain, dry eyes, thinning hair. Two years later I feel great. Symptoms started up again but HRT was increased and all is good

AD's are not recommended for anxiety due to Peri/menopause and can make things worse.

If you are able, I very, very strongly suggest that you go to a menopause clinic. They are not as expensive as many people think, and it's 100% worth it.

As @Aquamarine1029 says, anxiety that is part of peri menopause does not usually respond to ADs (and it's against NICE menopause guidance to prescribe for menopause anxiety.)

Try not to think about 'how easy was it' to get HRT from your GP.

You should go and have a conversation and say you want to try it. Unless you have existing medical conditions that mean you can't use estrogen, your GP can't really refuse. It's licensed treatment, for menopausal symptoms.

The OP has stated that the anxiety is an existing condition, not brought on by peri.
Yes, I very easily got the oestrogen part, to go with my coil.

Thanks for your response all, aquamarine the anxiety is long-standing … could be exacerbated by menopause?.

Would add irritability/ lack of concentration to the list.

Am definitely booking in with Gp to discuss this- will go in with a written list of symptoms so they don’t try and increase the anti d.

Im not prepared to pay privately for this.
