Peri with mirena- how do I know?

I'm 46 and just had my Mirena replaced. The nurse said I was probably peri and if I was lucky this could see me through. To be honest I'm not really fully menopause aware but I suppose I better had be.

I don't have periods so no cycle to track. I'm tired and anxious anyway, teacher in a very demanding school. I have noticed that I wake up at 3am hot and sweaty but this started this summer so it's only now things have cooled down that's that I've realised it's still happening.

What else should I be looking out for and at what point do I see my GP?

Have a look on the Balance website or on threads on here for full lists of symptoms. Because the Mirena will deal with any period related symptoms, it will be other symptoms like fatigue, aches, mood changes, night sweats, hot flushes, insomnia etc that tell you something is going on.
If the symptoms aren't bothering you then you don't need to do anything. If they are, you could ask your GP for estrogen (patch or gel). I'm same age as you and I use Mirena and estrogen patches.
