How quickly did progesterone sensitivity show up?

Hi, I've been struggling with my mental health for the past year, very severe depression and anxiety. It's a lot better now, and I'm on quite a few meds which are helping, but I'm still not consistenly OK or back to my usual pretty cheerful self. So I have started on hrt - estradot 50 for the past 2 weeks, which seems to be going OK- and am due to start the utrogestan 200mg tomorrow. I'm going to use them vaginally to try to avoid side effects. I'm very scared that I will get changes to my mood and will go downhill again. If that is the case, do you think it will happen quickly or will it take weeks to show up? How did starting utrogestan make people feel? Thank you.

I had severe PMS since forever and when I took progesterone (Utrogestan) for peri symptoms my mood plummeted within 12 hours, regardless of whether I took it orally or vaginally.

I felt great on oestrogen but obviously couldn't take it without progesterone. My consultant had me on the lowest possible dose that was able to cause a bleed, and it was still hell.

Long story short I ended up having a total hysterectomy at age 45. I was so incredibly sensitive (intolerant?) to progesterone, even my own!

Sorry to share a negative story. Good luck to you.

I think I’ve been on HRT for about 7 months and it’s only now that the cyclical utrogestan side effects have settled. I’m glad I persevered with it. I’ve only ever taken it vaginally. It initially made me feel down and sluggish with odd back and shoulder ache. I was initially only taking 100mg which isn’t enough. I was about to give it up but upped my estrogel and took 200mg as a last chance to work - it worked much better at those levels.
The whole Process has been quite tough but still so much better than where I was.

@SameKeyThough this thread has been inactive for over a year now but I wondered how you got on? I'm facing a similar dilemma.... I really hope it was ok for you x
