2 months of incredibly light periods followed by 3 months of nothing. Hooray, I naively thought, maybe that's the worst of it all over.

Oh no...today I have discovered the delights of excruciating period pain (and stabbing arse pain, thanks to whoever up there decided to chuck that in as well) , but with no bleeding. Up my back, down my thighs, around my hips, literally sobbing into a cushion type pain that keeps coming and going, the type that used to keep me up all night as a teen. Poor DH has just been stroking my hair and muttering shush shush at me and looking a bit lost love him.

And I googled and apparently it's a 'thing' during peri, something to do with the womb lining continuing to thicken even though you're not having periods. For the love of all that is holy!

Next time I'm coming back as a man. I'll pay and everything if there's a choice.

Yes it's shit - life time of no period pain at all only to get it after kids as i hurtled into peri (had in late 30s just to really make parenting toddlers extra torturous!)

If there's any pattern at all, zinc supplements just before and during are supposed to really help.

WarriorN · 29/08/2022 20:11

Hope it's easing now!

Get lots of pads/tampons for heavy flow. Unfortunately when your period arrives it'll probably be a big 'un. I got through this phase of peri, which can go on a few years, by taking progesterone in the latter part of the cycle. It stops the lining getting too thick and you get the relief of a withdrawal bleed instead of the lining just building and building.

I feel your pain.
After my last bleed at Christmas I thought I was well on my way but no! First holiday myself and DH take with out 3dds earlier this month and 2nd day I bloody come on with period from hell which pretty much ruined the week

Chevyimpala67 · 29/08/2022 20:26

Oh gawd.
Yes.
I'm 3 months without a period but I'm still getting the period symptoms...cramps nausea, insomnia, the runs...its great fun 😡😡

AlisonDonut · 29/08/2022 20:32

12 years since I last had a period. And every 28 days I get headaches and feel like death. No energy and nosebleeds. Yay.

AlisonDonut · 29/08/2022 20:33

12 years...no idea why that changed to a
1.

I didn't know we could do bullets numbered on here...

AlisonDonut · 29/08/2022 20:34

Wow...TWELVE [in numbers, 12] years! how odd.
