Has any one tried antidepressants for treating hot flush and night sweats, low mood. I have tried the patches and the combined pill but neither helped.

Hi, I take a mixture of Fluoxetine (for menopause symptoms) and Clonidine (hot flushes) as well as vitamins and specific menopause supplements.
I can't take HRT for the risk factors (docs won't prescribe)

Apart from the total exhaustion and usual weight gain issues it works for me at the mo

A lot depends on your journey so far with HRT.

A change of type or a higher dose can make a big difference.

What were you using and the dose? Patches come in a really wide range of doses from 25mcgs estrogen to 100mcgs.

I'm guessing that if you were given the CCP, you must be young as this is normally only given as an alternative to women in their early 40s.

Can I ask how old you are and if your periods had stopped when you started HRT?

ADs are now reserved for women who cannot use HRT ( that usually means cancer or a recent heart attack or stroke.)
