Anyone else on high dose of oestrogen?

I've been struggling with peri for 18 months now. I seem to be very resistant to hrt! I'm seeing a private menopause GP, we have tried patches, gels of different levels, with 200 of progesterone 12 nights of the month.

We added testosterone but slowly even on triple the recommended dose nothing changed. So I'm off that.

I'm now on 200 of oestrogen patches. And will check hormone levels with a blood test in 6wks.

Is anyone else on 200 or higher of oestrogen and ok, or anyone else found themselves not absorbing their HRT? Thanks

I am on 4 x 1mg sachets of Sandrena daily, alongside a 100mg patch. My doctor refers to me as a ‘poor absorber’. I tried using just patches and my symptoms returned with a bang. I think we’ll probably ditch the patch altogether. I don’t think it makes anyone difference.
I also have a mirena coil and use Androfemme.

Thanks so much for the reply, I'll have a look at what you're taking.

@bluesky I am a poor absorber too. I'm 45 and on 225 patch (I was on 250 until a couple of days ago and still feel I should be, long story ... I may go back up). HRT did nothing for me until I went above 175 patch (initially I was on 175 Estradot and 3 sprays of Lenzetto then switched to all patch). Had I not been with a specialist I may have thrown in the towel because within licensed doses did zero for me.

@maidenpink thanks for replying, how long did it take before they got you up to 250 and did u suddenly feel, this is it, I feel so much better? Have you had any concerns being on that high a dose?

Once I was combining 175 Estradot with 3 sprays Lenzetto things began to settle over the course of a few weeks. At first I didn't dare believe it but once I managed to get through entire cycles being more steady I realised it was working. I'm still prone to fluctuations but these are massively reduced thanks to getting to a better dose. Believe me I was in a bad place and thought I'd never be well again. I went up quite fast - 13 months to get up to 250.

As for concerns ... I'm with Newson Health who have titrated me up no problem to 225 Estradot BUT I went up to 250 about 5 weeks ago off my own steam (it costs £50 to ask a clinical question now at Newson so I just took it upon myself). I had been recommended to get an estradiol test at my last Newson app to see how my absorption was. It came back 836 and I let them know and got advised to reduce back to 225. Not happy about this as Newson always say symptoms first so it seems crazy to advise me to reduce when I feeling good. I've taken it up with them and waiting to heat back. I'm on 100mg Utro vaginally 14/28 days and the Newson doc is now saying I may need to increase this. Personally after all the research I've done I'm not concerned about the dose as I'm relatively young and a poor absorber but the advice from Newson knocked me a bit - as I said, I've queried it.

@bluesky are your symptoms more psychological? Mine were primarily. HTH
