I'm on Day 1 of a combination of oestrogen gel and progesterone tablets.

I'm not expecting miracles overnight, but how long do generally they take to kick in?

I.e. not crying every 5 minutes, libido gone, night sweats, insomnia etc. Just looking for someone with a similar experience. Thank you.

It took literally less than 48 hours for me to start to feel better.

After two months I feel myself again.

I'm on the same regime as you, hang on in there.

Thank you for replying. I know it will take a while but just looking for reassurance. Glad it's working for you!

I was on tablets for 4 months. Felt almost fantastic by 3rd day and was on top of the world!!!! Unfortunately at 4months a started with severe anxiety and tinnitus. Was at gp today and was changed to gel and progesterone tablet. Such a shame as I felt fantastic for them 4months. We are all different. I hope they help you x

I'm on estrogen gel, progesterone tablets and testosterone and I felt the effects after 48 hours. It's been a month and I'm feeling better every day. Best of luck OP.

I'm in surgical menopause (total hysterectomy + ovaries out a month ago). I hadn't been taking HRT. started feeling really crap this week - tired, anxious, slumped, etc - so I started oestrogen gel 3 days ago. I honestly feel better already. Just a bit happier. Less "low".

I went straight into 3 pumps. I'd tried 1 pump a couple times last week and felt nothing. I think when it's the right dose you feel better.

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 12/08/2022 22:58

Thanks ladies, hope it works out for you both too. I do feel less 'low' already. I thinking being able to sleep better helps but then who can sleep in this heat? Swings and roundabouts...

Been on Everol Conti for 3 months and have gained weight, feel like I have pmt all the time be and very achey and stuff joints and muscles. Hot flushes much better and sleeping well now but feeling depressed with the side effects. Have heard about cutting the patch in half to see if dosage would be better ? Am thinking of just coming off the HRT. Any advice welcome. Also anyone used Wellsprings progesterone cream?

KangarooKenny · 29/08/2022 07:17

I started bleeding after 3 days, so I suppose you could say it was working them.

I stopped because I bled every time I used the gel. I’d just got over 7 months of spotting after having a Mirena put in, so couldn’t go through that again.

I’m 6 months now on HRT. Started on gel but due to shortage/ supply issue changed to patch after 2 months and on that since. On progesterone tablets, 200mg day 14 to day 28.
No real improvement for first 3 months if I’m honest. I was very low and very anxious.
Went back for 3 month check, gp did oestrogen levels ( more accurate once in HRT at least 3 months ) and levels were low. Increased patch from 50mg to 75 and within a week, I started to feel lighter in myself. My mood has improved everyday since. Not as anxious, getting my interest in life and motivation back. Feeling like my old self again. I think my libido is slowly returning. Still have an itch that I need to go back to go about. All my muscle/ joint pains have gone.
stick with it! It’s so worth it….. I feel I have my life back again, best of luck 🤞

@Amandamaisiemoo ive been on patches nearly a year.
I’ve had to cut the progesterone patches in half for the 2 weeks using as they were making me feel awful.
feeling much better now on patches.
I take the mini pill too so assumed I was having too much progesterone.

Buster21 · 29/08/2022 08:58

Hi,I started 7 months ago and within about 5 days I could feel a change😀. Good luck x

Hi @Buster21 I have just come across your HRT symptoms because my Tinnitus has increased dramatically since being on HRT (for circa 18 months) How are you getting on now? I am on the Mirena coil and patches. I have always had low level tinnitus but this is unbearable, I still had a box of a lower dose of HRT so I am back on that and it has lessened but I am just wondering if yours has improved any?
