Urinary issue - oestrogen cream?

Hi all,

with the help of knowledge from here I have been on HRT for 6 months now and feel like a new person. It’s been an absolute blessing. The only issue I still have is a feeling of needing to wee when I have just been (no UTI) and some urge and stress incontinence. I am working on weight loss (so much easier now I feel better) and kegal exercises but I am wondering if a local cream would also help.

Im due a check up with my GP tomorrow and will ask their advice but I like to go in informed. Has anyone got any advice for me please.

Thanks in advance

Not sure about the incontinence but Ovestin made a massive difference to the number of UTIs I was getting.

I use vagifem, its in tablet form (inserted daily) and it's made a huge difference to me. I had exactly what you described plus getting up during the night to pee at least twice, now I sleep through and can plan days out without being concerned about where the toilets are. I hated the feeling of needing to urinate within a minute of having done so. Vagifem changed a lot for me, unfortunately I had to see a private specialist before getting it because my gp didn't believe urinary issues related to menopause and gave me antibiotics despite not finding any infection.

Wow thank you for the replies. I have to give my GP credit they have been amazing and I feel lucky not to have had the battles many of you have had to get treatment. I will definitely discuss tomorrow. I don’t want to be a slave to my bladder so hope this will be the final icing on my HRT cake.

Thanks for advice yesterday. I have been prescribed Vagifem now. Let’s hope it helps.

@LadyGardenersQuestionTime - How long until the Ovestin started making a difference for you?

LadyGardenersQuestionTime · 03/08/2022 18:32

to be honest I can't remember, I was prescribed it several years ago. But however long it took it was worth it!

Thank you! I've just started it. I've been plagued by UTIs the whole year, brought on by perimeno - resulting in a bladder flush and urethral dilatation and months of antibiotics (and stress incontinence too @Thanksforasking78). I'm hoping this will help.

Best of luck, OP!
