I’m 41 and fairly sure I’ve entered peri menopause. I suspected something was afoot a year ago, I was experiencing massive fluctuations in my libido and had vaginal dryness. I went to the GP and she was lovely, ran bloods for FSH and put me on combined pill (I already had a mirena coil) as a “pseudo HRT” - bloods came back with FSH (random cycle day) of 3 which she said was normal.

The pill caused my migraines to go through the roof though so I was taken off it again. And that’s how it was left.

Now a year later and I am experiencing loss of libido, so much brain fog, irregular periods (still have mirena, new one in February) and my skin has lost its firmness, I feel saggy and fat (normal BMI but everything feels wobbly now) and fucking awful most of the time.

I don’t even know why I’m posting, I don’t think I have a question. But anyone else feel/felt like this ever?

@Moaningturtle1

I’m sorry you’re going through this. I’m 41 and TTC my second. I noticed my fsh get bad from January but worse after getting covid in March.

I was all set to do my last egg retrieval last month and I had been doing estrogen priming but was exceptionally stressed. My fsh on cd2 was 24 so my cycle was cancelled. I was absolutely devastated and depressed. It feels like a double blow.

I have found out about Chinese herbs and acupuncture. They can bring fsh levels down and balance hormones but it takes time and money!

Are you getting any support?

You sound very similar to me, OP! I had to keep pushing, gently but firmly, with my GP. I also went on a combined pill at first but got headaches. It has taken a long time but I’ve now been on HRT for almost three months and can definitely notice a difference.

my bloods kept coming back as normal but had crazy anxiety, horrendous PMT for 2 weeks of the month and generally felt like crap. My advice is to get back on to the gp and ask to trial hrt.

I totally sympathise!

I’m 39 btw so there was reluctance from the GP to give me hrt initially.
