Weight gain & tiredness

Hi, I am new to the forum. I am 48. 5 years ago my doctor said I was peri menopausal and prescribed HRT. 3 years ago I had to be taken off of it and have an ablation due to severe and constant bleeding. Because this stopped my periods I now have no idea where I am on my menopause journey. I have every symptom and find every day tough going. Due to the ablation I cannot take HRT. My weight has piled on and as it’s all sitting around my middle at 5ft 5 I now look like a barrel. I have always been good at working out diets and what will work but now I’m at a loss. Can anyone please tell me what diets/exercise work for menopause weight gain? I am sure if I could lose some of the weight my symptoms would improve and I would feel better. Xx

From everything I read about menopausal weight gain, it seems a very low carb, high protein diet is best and intermittent fasting.
I stop eating at 7pm and don’t eat again until 10 or 11am. I am 49 and although a little bit bigger around the middle these days, I have maintained my weight.
Can I ask why you can’t have HRT after your ablation though? I had an ablation back in April. I was speaking to my gynaecologist yesterday about trying HRT, he has referred me to the menopause clinic. He says there is no reason why I can’t take HRT.

Should also add that my friend had an ablation 5 years ago and she’s been on hrt the last year.

I am 49, and had an ablation about 4 years ago, with no bleeding at all since.
I have been taking HRT for a few months now (and have lost about 3lbs..not much but a start!)
I have Estradot (50) and have just moved to utrogestan every 3 months for 12 days as I appear to be extremely sensitive to progesterone.

Absolute bollox that you can't have hrt after an ablation! I was on it before mine & I'm still on it! I'd see a menopause specialist if your gp/gynae are not up to date with hrt & menopause.
