Does this sound like the peri menopause?

A couple of months ago I started having awful mood swings and disturbed sleep so started on peri-menopausal vitamins as a precaution. My alcohol tolerance has also reduced. The last couple of weeks I've had a significantly increased appetite and what I can only describe as a hot flush today. Tue weather was much cooler than it has been but I couldn't get cool so had to change. An hour later I was too cold. Appreciate this all sounds like a random collection of symptoms but I just don't feel myself. Am early fourties and don't know what age is typical in my family. Thanks in advance.

I would say yes. I'm 42 and getting exactly the same symptoms.
I'm actually too worried to go to the GP because there's been so much media attention about menopause recently, I don't want him thinking I've jumped on the band wagon

Download the Balance app, there are over 40 symptoms. I would recommend you track them and see. And if it seems you are peri menopausal go to the dr. I was having awful anxiety, achey joints, mood swings and brain fog , and HRT alleviated that within a couple of weeks. Life changing.

No more aches joints ? I shuffle along these days 😞

Thanks all. I've downloaded that App and am considering seeing my GP to discuss if/when HRT might be an option.

@userxx it has helped so much with my joints. Still a bit stiff in the morning but once I’m up and about, pretty much back to normal.

I'm still considering HRT.
My wrists are agony. Still having heavy and painful regular periods at the moment but there is a definite shift in my cycle now (I'm 46).
The worst for me though is how tearful I get. It's like PMS x100.
I'm trying to gage other peoples experiences of HRT. I'm not even sure why I'm scared to try it. Just fear of the unknown I guess.
One of the things is I suffer from migraine with aura and I'm always wary about anything that might interfere with that.
However, I definitely can't go on like this.

Yes, sounds like it.

I had a Mirena coil fitted for heavy and more frequent periods. I became anaemia so had to do something.

It's time to speak to my doctor I think.

Hi, I'm so sorry to jump in. I posted earlier but no replies as yet...
I'm 41. My cycle is usually 26 days and my period is 5 days late (never happens). Not pregnant as tested yesterday and today (not trying to conceive). My last few periods have been agony to the point of being unable to move. I started with normal period pains on Friday but as yet -nothing! Infact I'm as dry as a bone 🙄
I'm am sweating constantly, even before the summer and am on sertraline for anxiety. Just wondering if cramps are common with perimenopause. Thank you for reading

NorthernPud · 26/07/2022 22:23

No experience of cramps that I can recall but my period is really weird at the moment. Started yesterday morning then just stopped. That has never happened before,
