Discharge

Sorry for the gory details but I'm wondering if anyone can help.

I had BV a while back and I've got another discharge now which is yellowish/light brown. I've got no other symptoms.

I've been tested for STIs and all tests were negative (haven't had a partner since). I had a smear test last year which was negative.

I was wondering if the discharge could be due to the menopause? I'm in my early 50s and haven't had a period for over a year. I'm on HRT.

I dunno but I have started having the same and it is driving me mad. Am 50, have mirena and no HRT. I suspect I would still have periods if it wasn't for the coil. Mine changes between white and pale yellow, occasionally think it is light brown. Have tested for sti s and is negative. Currently trying a yeast/bv pessary. It isn't itchy or smelly and doesn't fit the definition of either. So....😬

datingdilema · 21/07/2022 08:03

@Worriedpanda50 - Sounds the same as mine. I might try a BV pessary. Thanks for your reply

Worriedpanda50 · 21/07/2022 10:06

I had been wondering if it is due to fluctuating hormones as I am suddenly getting intermittent super painful breasts and recently had a v light period despite the coil and don't normally. I see on here tonnes of pregnant women have yellow discharge, am not sure which pregnancy hormones cause it and if it is possible I am having similar elevated hormones. Going down the pessary route anyway. It's 7 day. Only had 2 and as far as I can tell it's gone clear now. The discharge isn't yellow every day tho and sometimes i don't have any, so who know.

Worriedpanda50 · 21/07/2022 10:09

I also had a clear smear in 2020 and they have always been clear. I did worry the yellow could be caused by blood, as in tiny tiny amounts to cause a discolouration. I had a GP take a look when I had the unexpected period and cervix is healthy looking. It's a mystery as it doesn't really match bv or thrush symptoms.

menoridiculous · 21/07/2022 21:41

I've had cramps today, like period cramps. I think I'll get a GP appointment. Perhaps you should too. Take care Daffodil

Yeah I probably will have to. I've had it a few months and no cramps tho.

How long have you had yours?

menoridiculous · 22/07/2022 17:36

I've had it for quite a few months. I'm wondering if it could be a type of BV. It's not uncomfortable today.

Ugh. It's so hard to know. Mine is a very light yellow and some days it is just white. Am back to thinking it is hormone related. Painful boobs again. On say 3 of pessary and it is still yellow.

Is the lack of period hrt related? I don't know much about it.

menoridiculous · 23/07/2022 13:34

I'm in my early 50s and my periods tapered off and I think I'm at the menopause stage now.

I'm single but I'm thinking my discharge would be off putting to a partner! Confused

I dunno they would be aware of it, unless there is loads? I am married and my husband doesn't have the foggiest.

Worriedpanda50 · 27/07/2022 10:35

Did you make a GP appointment? I did and have done a swab. I don't know what they test for but she said it isn't sti because I have already done those.

I am now getting more discharge and the colour is a stronger yellow.

I find it really upsetting. I've tested for chlamydia and gonorrhoea and both negative. Treated for thrush and bv. No change. I did a ph swab from the canesten thing that tells you if elevated ph ... if so could be BV or Trich. Mine wasn't elevated.

I am getting no itch or any discomfort whatsoever but it's so disconcerting. It was previously clear or white or pale yellow but last 3 days has been a stronger yellow. This has been going on a few months too but never this yellow before. Whenever I google yellow discharge the returns come back with pregnant women worried about it or women with sti.

I had a slight brown discharge which was brown blood and period cramping and my GP sent me to the hospital in the 2 week pathway for cancer. A scan showed a big ovarian cyst. I'm waiting to see the gynaecologist next week.

Worriedpanda50 · 10/09/2022 23:34

Did you have yellow discharge too?

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 10/09/2022 23:35

No I didn't.

Worriedpanda50 · 10/09/2022 23:40

Thanks. I wish you well with your appointment. I've lost an ovary to a cyst but it was fortunately benign. Hope you get answers soon. Xx

Thank you. I'm too old to need ovaries now so if I lose mine I won't be too sad but I'd really like it to be benign 🤞

I would see your GP, good luck.

I got checked out for every std and various other things. Everything negative. Internal by gp looked ok. Gp prescribed esteogen pessaries and seems to think hormones is the reason but at the time she did this it actually stopped. So I haven't used them. It's been a few weeks, so could come back. The painful boobs have also stopped. I went through a few very very stressful months this year, combined with my age - 50. I am wondering if my hormones went crazy and perhaps they are settling down. If it happens again I will use the pessaries and see what happens.

I hope you get the right results. Saw your other posts and seems you got messed around a lot.

Worriedpanda50 · 11/09/2022 11:39

Endless days - you should go back to GP. It sounds like the quantity is a lot too, mine isn't. It might be nothing but if it isn't normal it needs to be investigated. They also did a separate swab for trichonomiasis for me. Still negative

It's so hard to know. Dr Google is useless on this when sti's, thrush and BV is ruled out.

I spoke too soon and mine came back today after 2 weeks of disappearing.

I am wondering if it is related to having more sex than usual. I also think my boobs are sore again but that could be psychological. I

I still have periods, kinda. I have the merina.

It really stresses me out when I see it.
