Blasted patches won't stick!

Just changed to Evorel 50 patches. First one went on Saturday, fine. Changed it yesterday and noticed it was gone this afternoon so put another one on but that's crinkled up and is coming off too. Is it just the heat or are they always this much trouble?

Been wearing them 3 years. Only ever had one come off.none have come unstuck the last couple of hot days.

don’t wear body lotion and put them on before you shower. If you try to put them on after p, when skin is warm and slightly damp, they won’t stick.

Also, if it’s crinkling up, where are you sticking them? I have them on my hip but stick them on when I’m sitting down. I think if I stuck them on when standing they maybe would crinkle when sitting.

RudsyFarmer · 20/07/2022 19:03

I’ve found a great place to put them where they don’t come unstuck. It’s basically below your hip
bone, above where your knocker elastic sits.

My advice is to move your body and look where it creases. You want to find an area that’s hairless and doesn’t crease. For me that’s the area described above.

I found it helpful to not use any lotion or moisturiser, let my skin completely dry. Then stick them on hold it down for 30 seconds then leave for about 5 minutes without getting dressed or rubbing anything up against it. But they are a pain in the ass and I switched to gel in the end because they came off if I got sweaty.

greatblueheron · 20/07/2022 19:06

Put them on your bottom where you sit, alternate sides. Seriously. It's the only place I've been able to keep mine on without any issues.

Rockbird · 20/07/2022 19:46

Thanks all. First one went on the side of my left thigh, so second one went (and fell off) the side of my right thigh. This one is on the front and clinging on so far.

I'll try the various tricks here but am definitely hating them so far!

They never stick on my thighs, only place they stay put is on my bum so much so that I have to take a deep breath before ripping them off!

RudsyFarmer · 20/07/2022 20:41

They wouldn’t stay stuck to my thighs either. I’m

RiverSkater · 20/07/2022 20:48

When you put it on, hold your hand over it for about 10/15 secs as this helps the adhesive.

No body lotion or anything, I apply mine before I go to bed.

Rockbird · 20/07/2022 21:47

Bum is the way to go then by the sound of it. I just think I'd be constantly fishing them out of the loo 😀

I stick mine on my arse. Only had one come off.

Rockbird · 20/07/2022 22:21

Have now transferred it to my right buttock. I'll keep you posted... Grin

God the only issue I have had with mine is that they stick so well they hurt to pull off! And the sticky stuff stays around forever too so I’m always picking black stuff off my arse.

As for putting it on a hairless bit…If I still had any hairless skin left below the waist I wouldn’t need the bloody things.

TheProvincialLady · 20/07/2022 22:24

Sorry that was completely unhelpful and self centred, sorry

Tinkerbellflowers · 20/07/2022 23:09

I started on these patches a couple of weeks ago. This week I have had two showers a day, been swimming, sweated! Yet they are stuck so hard, they hurt to pull off. Have they been stored somewhere too hot maybe? I started a thread on this earlier in the week as the box says to store below 25 degrees but nowhere in my house was cooler than that yesterday, apart from the fridge.

Baby oil and cotton wool gets the sticky off.

olympicsrock · 20/07/2022 23:11

I have no problem at all with them - bottom or outer thigh.
I put them on after a shower onto clean skin.

over50andfab · 20/07/2022 23:53

Other women have reported their patches not sticking and crinkling up due to the recent heat. You could cover with Tegaderm to keep them in place if you can’t find a place they stick to. I’ve never had an issue with Evorel on buttocks and outer upper thighs.

TheProvincialLady · 21/07/2022 10:09

Thank you Tinkerbellflowers!

Please don't store medicines in the fridge unless they specifically instruct to do so. All medicines will be tested during development to ensure robustness for short periods of storage in extreme conditions (eg to cover transport in hot lorries and/or the freezing hold of an airplane etc). This used to be my job! A few days over 25C will be fine. If you are concerned you can ring the number on the packet/leaflet and the manufacturer will be able to reassure you.

Tinkerbellflowers · 21/07/2022 16:30

Thank you. That's really good to know.

Rockbird · 21/07/2022 18:06

Update: patch fell off and stickiness completely gone so put a new one on buttock this morning and it's been stuck nice and firmly since. Looking good (the future of the patch, not the buttock obvs).
