Do you feel the heat much more than you used to now you are in peri?

Although I don’t have regular day time hot flushes I have noticed the last couple of years that my intolerance to heat has all but disappeared.
I am 49 and used to love really warm weather but it makes me feel so very unwell now.
My husband says I just need to pace myself but he doesn’t get it, I literally feel like I’m about to explode, I feel nauseated, headachy and my pre-existing IBS (which already seems to be exacerbated by peri) goes into overdrive, I feel bloated, gassy and awful.
I do have all these symptoms at the best of times but the hot weather seems to make these symptoms so very bad.
Is this normal or to be expected in peri? Many of my friends the same age find they no longer enjoy the very hot weather.
Needless to say that I am dreading the next few days (but I shouldn’t really say that on MN or I’ll get shot down in flames lol).

I am decades past menopause (surgical early 20s). And no, I don’t nor did I find the heat any more uncomfortable. Having said that - I do get your symptoms during hot spells when I haven’t had enough salt. A packet of crisps, of a tomato dabbed in some salt and a cup of tea works to banish the symptoms. My guess is that due to normal sweating, electrolytes/essential minerals etc become imbalanced and upping salt intake, as fluids are increased anyway, seems to solve it.

hope you find a solution as it really does make you feel sick.

omg yes. I used to love the sun. Now it's a nightmare. I'm sat outside today, its 23 degrees compared to yesterday's 40 and I am Boiling. Feel like I have a furnace in my body. Time to see the GP I think...

I don't know - I know I felt ill with the heat yesterday (38 degrees where I live), but then maybe that type of heat in the UK would've always made me feel ill? Our homes are just not designed to keep cool - they're designed to keep the heat IN.

I’m quite relieved I have seen this thread. I have just been away, first time abroad in 28 years, I have just turned 50. I stopped my evorel sequi patches last month as thought they wouldn’t have stuck whilst on holiday anyway, and I found the heat difficult but manageable by constantly going in the pool. However, since coming home on Saturday I have been boiling hot! Anxious too. My period should have started on July 20 but still not here which is probably down to me buggering it up by stopping the patches. It’s actually worrying me because I feel so shitty, even did a covid test. Do I need to wait for my bleed before starting back on my patches does anyone know? Sorry to hijack just wanted to speak to others who understand as my partner doesn’t he just keeps saying you’re not hot!
