Lanibanani · 15/07/2022 20:54

Me 48

Period late by 2.5 months , I presumed peri starting

have started having weird food aversions in the last week or so , I thought it was due to the heat but my partner was like - er no period and food aversions .

surely I would feel preggers ? Have had unprotected sex a lot lately

Obviously am gonna do a test now I have thought of it but surely am too old ?? Period was regular before this delayed one and no symptoms like flush or anything

thsnks for reading !

Take a test.. I’m a midwife and meet a lot of women who thought they were menopausal..

Good luck!

will get one tomorow

surely I would notice more if my period is so late tho! Have been pregnant four times in my life and am sure I knew much sooner tham so long after a missed period (last one was mid April)

Your period is over two months late, and you've had unprotected sex 'a lot' but you haven't already taken a pregnancy test?

i have been having unprotected sex for about three years - took my iud out as wanted to see what happened when I was 46 ish but nothing did so presumed that shop had sailed !

i had for my head around that ship having sailed tbh which is why I am thinking this is more likely peri and not tested ..

Yikes! How would you feel about another baby? This happened to me last year at 43, freaked out thinking I was starting menopause, nope pregnant. Had a miscarriage which was horribly painful emotionally but probably for the best

My friend's cousin was told she couldn't have children when she was in her 20s. At age 51 (yes fifty one!) her periods stopped and she gained weight. Obviously the menopause she thought. No, she was pregnant!! The little boy is now 2 and absolutely perfect. I'd never heard of anyone that age getting pregnant naturally but it's true.

CadburyCrunchy · 25/07/2022 01:04

@Lanibanani any news yet? I heard of a peri menopause surprise baby yesterday and she's 51 with a 14 year gap since last baby! She's already 4 months into pregnancy and is delighted about it!

Lanibanani · 10/08/2022 16:36

Hi all! Still no period !

i did a cheap strip test a couple of weeks ago after I posted and negative !

so weird tho - feel totally normal but just no period since end of April .

can one have a meno with no symptoms!?

My first symptom of perimenopause was missing a few periods. Nothing else. Thought I'd got away with it... then 4 years later as my oestrogen levels dropped further I've had the full works. Sadly skipping one period isn't 'it' for many. Perimenopause can last a number of years. Mine lasted 7.
