Cost of 8 Evoral Sequi patches on prescription £18?!

Dr prescribed me these on Friday and I’ve just collected them from Tesco pharmacy. Was really really shocked that cost was £18 for 8 patches (4 weeks worth).

The lady on the till said it’s because they are different strengths so it’s like 2 different prescriptions in one.

Am desperate to give them a go so fingers crossed, but am genuinely shocked at the cost. Am going to get a prepayment certificate for next time.

I was also shocked that HRT prescriptions are so expensive per month. Seems crazy when you could be on it for years. Definitely worth investigating a pre-payment certificate

Ask the GP to prescribe more next time.
I always got 6 months of tablets for £18
Collected my first lot of patches and got 3 months worth for £18
When I put in my next repeat I requested 6 months worth again and that's what I got

It's because the eforel sequi contains 2 medications, the oestrogen and the progestogen (norethisterone) so double prescription charge. As others have said though you can get more than one month one prescription, most gps would be happy to prescribe 3 months at a time, which makes it much cheaper!
