Can progesterone help depression

Since April I have been on Evorel 50 Sequi. My main reason for going on HRT was to help with mood / depression. I have noticed a pattern that when I am just on the oestrogen only patch I seem to get days of feeling severely depressed and then an improvement on the Conti patches.

I’ve been feeling so bad that I have contacted my GP about this but they never called back, I’ve given up with them as they’re rarely helpful anyway.

I have been reading quite a bit about progesterone and wondered if it would benefit me being on this continuously? I’m almost 50 and last period was October.

If anyone has any advice or has experienced similar then I’d be really grateful to hear. I just just want to feel ok, not even asking to feel happy, just ok will be good enough right now.

I know from forums that many women find progesterone chills them out a lot.

Others find it's too groggy making.

It sounds like you could move to continuous anyway? To see if it helps.

Thanks @WarriorN for your reply. I’ve decided that I am going to try continuous HRT. I’ve had enough of feeling so crap, I guess it’s all trial and error.
